Alky carb conversion?

Who had converted gas carbs to run on Alky and willing to share some tips on doing it?

Where to start?
What % to go up on drilling the Jets?
Will the needle flow enough or will it be needed to inlarged?

But hopefully someone will be willing to share something.

I made the choice to go away from nitro because I am not good enough as an operator to justify the hassle, cost, touchy tuning, and corrosiveness of it. Someday maybe I’ll try again just because it smells good!

My thoughts are...... That I suck so I might as well try and make my saws faster.

I have Poleman do 4-6 Zama for me to run methanol. He went up to 45/60 on the sides from stock. The ones closer to stock run better. You need 2.1-2.4x the area of gas jets. Which isn’t much. It’s a pain to dial in if you don’t have a starting point.

I have Poleman do 4-6 Zama for me to run methanol. He went up to 45/60 on the sides from stock. The ones closer to stock run better. You need 2.1-2.4x the area of gas jets. Which isn’t much. It’s a pain to dial in if you don’t have a starting point.

Guess I need to start looking at the circuits of different carbs and go from there.

I don't know yet I have a few to choose from.
I'm thinking about something for my 365. I just have a xt372 carb on it now.

I've been leaning towards a Tillotson HS296.
Because it has the jets exposed.

I do have a WJ39 but to me it looks like a little more work.

The RWJ has jets that can be worked on pretty easy as well best I remember.

It might be easier to learn with an older carb with less jets to play the balancing act with. Maybe even a stihl 044/046 hd carb.
The older 394 carbs like the wj70 are pretty simple too by comparison.

Where does a person start?

In my pea-brain, I would think to start working on the low side and get it close.

Then start working up on the high side from there.

Just remember that if you double the diameter of a hole, you have quadrupled the area of opening.

I've never dealt with anything other than pump gas.
But....
From what I'm picking up here.
My gut thought says start at a low twenty~ish percent increase in hole sizing and go from there?

I've never dealt with anything other tweaking a fixed jet,
gasoline carburetor.
So take my idea as strictly a guesstimation

I don't have any vids of it yet with the pipe on it.
It runs good on the muffler but needs a little more blow down now.
