my iron horse compressor fried the windings in the electric motor. Seems everyone with a suitable motor wants $300 or so. Can dang near buy a new professional one for that. Anyway, looking for a motor at a great price or looking to buy a new or used compressor.
Dont wanna spend a lot on a new motor cause the compressor is at least ten years old. At least thats how long ago i bought it used.
Assuming a motor is not in the offing, at minimum what im looking for is:
- 20+ gallon
- 110v
- vertical
- mobile
- 1.5+ hp
- oil lubed
Saw the new mcgraw unit at harbor freight. Looks good and meets all my parameters. But only has a 90 day warranty. Plus its made in china. Wondering if anyone has one and what you think. Seems everyone sells a no oil unit. Cant get in to that cause dont wanna buy another one in two years.
Lastly, what compressors would you recommend for a medium income budget?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Sanborn makes a good one, 60 gallon size and not too expensive, brother has one in his basement/ work shop. Cheaper than my Ingersoll Rand wheel barrel style compressor.

In my shop i have a 60 gal Quincy. Cost $1200 and worth every penny. Every part on it says made in USA.
In the barn i have an OLD 20gal Campbell Hausfeld. It is over 30 years old and says made in USA on it.
For handy man work i have a HF Fortress 2gal. Had it for a few months and i must say i really like it. All the small name brand compressors are made in Asia. When i was looking for a new portable i checked out a lot of compressors. The HF Fortress line is pretty good for the money and better built than any other budget cimpressors i looked at. I would skip the red and black ones from HF. The Mcgraw line looks as good as any of the name brand budget compressors. Hard to find made in the USA in a small compressor.
My $0.02 worth.
Might look at the quincy Q12126VPQ

Oh, all one unit. Not much chance if changing out the motor. Looks like you are right about needing a new compressor
