I was looking at this carb on ebay. I want to get a fully adjustable carb for the 170. It appears identical to the Zama, there are no HL needles sticking out of the holes and the holes don't appear to be threaded. Are these holes just blocked up or are the hidden needles in there?

The ones I have seen are adjustable.

Do the ones you saw look different? With external needles? Or are you saying there are hidden needles in those holes?

The Zama C1Q-S57D is the OEM carb for the 170 and 180. It uses an "air bleed" screw for your idle adjustment and a "fixed jet" for the top end. They work best when gaskets are new, and only cost $32.95 retail from Stihl. Probably even cheaper through Ebay. The one pictured looks exactly the same as an S57D. RB-77 is the full rebuild kit. But as Dave mentioned, the Wt-194 is a common upgrade for smaller saws. Though I haven't been able to get them for $15! lol

I looked at the IPL for the Zama carb, apparently there are plugs in the H/L holes.

I purchased a Farmertec wt-194 clone last week and received it today. It looks the same as the one in Dave's ebay link except that it does not have the compensator on the top. Eventually when I install it I will just plug the hole in the filter assembly.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

It is the WT-215 that is an popular swap on the 170.

Here is the clone that I got. Can you tell what Walbro model this matches?

I'm not sure what it is. Where is the impulse on that carb?

It's on the other side. The photo is showing the front of the carb, the air filter side.

It may be a WT-215 clone.

I swapped the cover to get the comp elbow and cut a slot for the throttle linkage. Drilled the case to access the adjuster screws. Worked great. First order amazon sent me zama carburetor counterfeit. Said stihl right on the carb. $12 each.
