Plan is to keep it as a work saw, just more power in that rpm range, exh dur is short, pipe calc'd at 10k, haven't tached it in the cut, but definitely more power and holding more rpm.
Pulls the 404 full chisel harder than the 3/8 semi I had on there on muffler.
Love my bikes, feels just like a 2 stroke bike to use (engine wise) snappy, can feel it get 'on the pipe'

Looks good. Putting that wood on its side & slicing 'cookies' would show off that saw nice. Many don't appreciate the density of our wood and for it to hold rpm through the cut is good.

After zooming in on your pipe i have to wonder if you have made them before? It sure looks pretty professional. Very nice work do the felling dogs clear past the pipe and still functional? It didnt look like the pipe was in the way much so thats very good. Also do you notice your engine running any hotter now with the pipe added? Did your carb adjustments change much going from muffler to pipe?

DSC_0305.JPG Thankyou for the kind words, to be fair I've been a mechanic fabricator engines etc for a long time, first go at an expansion chamber pipe, not as pretty as some but it's functional, gave it a couple tanks tonight firewood sawing, it's really nice to use, heaps of go.

It's almost (the pipe) unnoticeable, can dog into the wood, isn't as transparent as a muffler though.

Carb adjustments were a little surprising, I had to remove a heap of idle fuel just to get it to idle, but the high speed tells the story. Added half a turn or so to get it nice, I think I'm out of jet to be true.

Temp seems no issue, set it down after a long cut or consecutive cuts and all seems normal, we shall see

Got some nice colour after some hard work tonight

Fair bit in the exhaust, needs a lot more, but piston skirt width is an issue, Inlet tract is a bit small too...

You guys are much more brave turning these china cranks thiat fast. They must be fairly in phase and true or we would see many more failures. Nice work and it seems you got plenty of gain from the saw. Are you still running a farmertec jug and piston or something else stock size 54mm or 56bb?
