I finally got bars, chains and sprockets sorted out with my "new" 026 and my "old" MMWS 261CM. The 026 is running 16" bar with 3/8th x 0.063 Carlton semi-chisel (no safety hump strap) which it pulls just fine. I'll use it for limbing and other nasty work. The 261 is now running an 18" bar with 3/8th x 0.063 Oregon 75CL (thank you @radio ) full comp, square ground. It was absolutely VICIOUS bucking 14-16" oak today.

Nice bars! Saws aren't bad either. :)

Does the 026 feel quite a bit smaller/maneuverable? I've owned an 026 and a 261, but not at the same time.

Yes. For sure. I need to weigh the pho's though. I think the plastics on the 026 are slimmer, which probably subconsciously make it feel lighter and nimbler.

Thanks to @Tpagel for the Cannon bar, too.
You are very welcome. A well ported 50cc with factory square sounds awesome.

I really like a saw you can't stop no matter how tough you get with it.
Nice pic of your 1121 and 1141 and serious bars!

Sounds like you need to try a 461, the off idle torque is rediculous for a 70cc class saw imo

Got the powerheads on the scale today, fuel and oil full: 026 = 12# 8oz., MS261 = 13# 7#. So, the 026 is basically a pound lighter.

I wonder what makes the 261 so much heavier?

It's got a longer bar. Also the bar on the 026 is a reduced weight bar. And it's the original version of the 261, not the newer lighter one.

I thought he weighed the PHO?
I am guessing the 026 was stock, not ported?
All saws run well. That red oak looks hard!

This was PHO weight. Bars were not on them, but fluids (gas and oil) were full. Yes, this was the original MS261 C-M, so a little heavier than the current gen 2.

026 is stock.
Love my 261 and 361, they definitely "run well." Have had the 026 for about a week, still working on fettling, too soon to have an opinion
Chestnut/Rock oak is actually a "white" oak species, fwiw. Either way, it is definitely solid, hard wood.
