I'm with Dave....prefer used saws...why.
You get more meat on the bone.
You find very low barely used and nos for much less.
That said you should buy the jacked-up 066 for sale here.
If you don't like it sell it.
This is what I'm trying to avoid. I'm looking at units sold currently that are still actively in service with all parts available.

Saw will be used for trees 3 feet or larger, for felling, bucking, and flushing stumps. I wont be carrying it around for logging unless the timber is tremendous, for normal duty...the 572 with a 28" will probably do the work.
Ok then new it is.
661 only because of Mtron easy restarts and changing conditions. Starts easier than a carb after cold sits imo.
Plus light bars. Although you don't even need a 36"

And, and
...and why will you ever need a bar over 32"?
Besides the need to groom your ego.

This should be good...

Ask me again in two weeks.
I'm on both sides of milling and killing.

Cough cough.. 60 would have been nice. No need to finish the buck on the other side of the log.

And.... it will take longer. A 28" or 32" is all you need. Long bars beat *s-word up, mostly me. My 60" is a Cannon S and still sucks to cut with off the mill. I'll take that 32" Sugilite or 28"ES any *f-wording day a week over that 37" 42" or 60" Cannon S every time! 60s for bigger buckin or Millwood .

Because I'm not just some turd stroking an ego? I've worked professionally in the logging and residential tree industry since I was 19, and often do side jobs for myself. Tree company supplies everything for residential work, guys who opt to log in the winter are to bring their own powerheads and bars.

In my experience, a 661 is not easy to start, but like with most hard to start saws you can get used to what works best.

Also...I'll decide what I do and dont need, cupcake.
Only reason I need a 395 is grunt for the mill and the oil pump will run the bars up to 42" without add ons.
The clutch will be a bonus.

If your going to be using it with a 50 or 60 in the woods....I would buy a new 088 or 880. You can not buy a new 084 here.

I still think your better off with the 661 in the woods.

It couldn't hurt to have a bar tip oiler on a mill to keep the bottom of the bar wetter since much of the oil will fling off the tip.

So...last year with some of my tax return, I decided I would by my first ever new saw! I'm looking to buy (you guessed it) another brand new saw.

Its between a 661 and a 395. I can get a nice discount on Husqvarna, but that wont stop me from picking up a 661 if I can get one for a reasonable price.

Saw will normally utilize a 36" bar, I'm not really scared of weight. The saw will end up being ported as well.

Which do you prefer? Why? Which would you purchase? Explain your logic.

I'm not interested in a brand war or pissing on one of the saws for no reason, so swing your Johnson elsewhere!

I’m A Stihl Head but the 395 is a Stud.

36”-42” max, 661R.

More than that, 395.

It comes down to are you going to hang it off a belt?

Do you have an issue with inboard clutches & front tensioners?

The 395 has more guts but the 661 is more comfortable.
