Last week a customer stops by with his 6 month old 395xp...literally 4 screws loose and two missing. I chit you not. Loves the saw but feels he needs to carry a box behind it to carry Loctite and the assortment of screws/nuts tighteners . I've repaired it three times for various "loose" stuff.
Same guy had a two week old 661 that literally blew up in his hands....Stihl rebuilt that one under warranty after a good bit of "conversation" with NE Stihl....
I prefer a 661 as I am more comfortable wrenching on one and they just feel great in my hands. The 395 I really have to think about managing the saws girth.
Straight stumping....395
Straight "bucking" 661 no doubt.

This is what I'm trying to avoid. I'm looking at units sold currently that are still actively in service with all parts available.

Saw will be used for trees 3 feet or larger, for felling, bucking, and flushing stumps. I wont be carrying it around for logging unless the timber is tremendous, for normal duty...the 572 with a 28" will probably do the work.
Looks like you've made your decision. With a 572 for all else, 395 is the big bar go to. And well priced over Stihl leaving room for a port job.

Buy the Stihl , Husky may or may not keep that saw long

Both saws are good. Built by the right people, they will really perform. And last well.
Just really comes down to personal preference.
If you are all set up with Hooskie bars, then go Tree9five.
If you are set up with Stihl Bars, then go Six6one. [emoji16]

Are you going to be doing more falling and bucking with the saw or more stumping?

For more falling and bucking, the 661 gets the nod. For more stumping, 395.

Of course, if you really want a big saw, I can arrange to set you up with an 084...
Where the *f-words my 084?
Whorder
And I will use it

If you haven't had the chance, get your mitts on a SCarr ported 395. Ah-maize-ing.
The 94/95's oil like a hoss, are built like tanks, and easily handle a 50" bar and can mill like no other (except the 3120/880). I prefer the outboard clutch when on the mill BUT, that front chain tensioner sucks. Someone needs to get on a custom fix...
Custom fix, check.
