With no gasket it was a head banger.
With card stock setting at .013
Pretty much unstartable.
Will the .o20 steel gasket with sealer
Be enough? The card stock was .011
Or so. I have a thicker gasket but it is .040. The thing jerked the rope back so hard it hit me in the wee wee area and I laid on the ground a bit and considered squish on big saws in a new light. What you all think?

I think it's more the timing, I've ran 066's at .014-.016 and start just fine.... until you advance the timing a bunch

Odd, the timing is stock with the key so far. I wonder if there is a tighter place in the combustion chamber I'm missing?
I have always checked the squish on the piston pin sides of the piston .
Maybe a bad coil? The recoil spring is already going to crap anyway.
I will probably just keep this
Turd instead of selling it, I have a feeling
I would end up with a comeback anyway

If it is a head banger w/o gasket, do not use less than the .020 stihl. Insert that, then check the squish. You want about .020, but can get away with a bit less.

I would also highly recommend a OEM piston bearing. I tried to use the one supplied, and after about 10 tanks it gave the piston enough play to start touching the squish band (felt like the saw had no AV, and luckily I ripped it down).

I have one, I'm gonna put it in
When I fix the squish.
It looks like it's pretty easy to pull the jug on this saw

I'd also look at the fuel amount the carb is delivering, is the plug a rich colour
As I had a 036 that used to rip the easy start handle out of my poor little fingers.

It turned out to be the meatering leaver set to high. Since it been set ive not had a problem.

Your.020 gasket will be perfect. You shouldn’t need any sealer
