So what's everyone's opinion on the 2018 model 550xp?

airfiltration is second to none and the heat problem is also solved.

even if it got more weight on it, i prefer that husqvarna is going towards durability.

It may be a 17. I will have to check. How do I tell if it's a Mark11

I’d go with the mk2 just for the better filter setup and other improvements. I haven’t ran one yet but I have owned a 545 and an 2253 in the past.

How's the 550 doing.

It's doing great and I love it.
My go to firewood machine.
Light and nimble, is a great saw for someone that keeps a sharp chain.
I even like the outboard clutch, it stays pretty clean of debris and oil.
A little bit of grease at the filter base works well for me.

I thought I've read about running hot and such is the reason husky switched the 550 around a little to make the mark11

Just to clarify, perhaps in your initial post you meant "So what's everyone's opinion on the original model 550xp (mark I)?"

In 2018 Husqvarna made both Mark I and Mark II saws (Mark II launched in January 2019), folks assumed you meant the new Mark II in their responses.

I just checked and it is a 2018 model but not the mark11. So was there things with issues to persuade husky to change the saw?

I was confused about that too. I assumed oe version because I didn't think the Mark 2 was for sale in the USA until this year. I just got my original version this year, I think it's an 18. I have only had the opportunity to put 2 tanks through it so far, but it's been awesome. I really like it. If I could afford it I would buy another one to put up in case I ever needed it. I'm not crazy about the weight on the mark 2. I have never handled one but on paper it just looks too close to the weight of a 562 for my taste.

I understand this statement. My 562 checks a few boxes.

The cooler motor, better filtration, stronger bottom end and newer auto tune and increased HP make up for the slight weight gain, you really don't feel it, it balances nicely, after all this is a 50cc saw not a 90cc. So I don't think weight is as big a deal.

I have put 2 tanks through mine also and it is an awesome little saw. I have had 2 550's in the past but deals came along and I passed them on without running much more than a tank through the new saws so that didnt lead to much of a opinion from me.

I've also had a few new 346ne's but they didn't strike me as a saw I wanted to keep verses my 2149 which seemed to have alot more torque.

The only 562 I've had was modded by a saw builder we all know with a timing timing advance and muffler mod. It spooled up quickly but just seemed to lack the torque that I'm used to and prefer. Traded that one for the 2186 with the same mods from the same builder and this saw lacks nothing!

562 just isn't for me I guess but I am hoping the 550 is and I am just curious about the problems with these saws and what I am looking at in the future holding on to it. I prefer the weight over the 5105 for a 50cc saw and hope it all pans out with no problems with it.

The 5105 does weigh a little more and is kind of a porker in size compared to the 550 but has much smoother A/V. I like the filtration system better on the 550 too.
