Glad you got that one carl, i bid on it as well haha. Silver tag means pre-1987. Thats the best i can do on that guy.

Have a look at the inside of the plastics, usually theres a date code of some sort of when the plastic was made, which should give you a better idea.

1503 is a code system Husqvarna used from ruffly 1978 up to around 82-83. No one knows what they really stand for.
40, 44, 444, 133, 50 used them and probleby some other oldies, each one had a 4 digit number.
Those oldies did not have a same digits we're used on the cranks nowadays either.

Its a cool saw he got! Looks to be a great example of 50 also!

Haven't had any luck with finding any dates on my plastics unfortunately.

Used mine last weekend for a few hours along with a 550xp. Plenty of improvements over the years, but honestly for the 35 years between them the ol' 50 really isn't that dissimilar, and the 50 wasn't even a "pro" saw. A 154se is more fair I guess, my 1984 and 1986 examples (ignore the 254 sticker, although the early ones are identical) keep up with the 550 speedwise, but have 4cc extra and are heavier.
