As many of you all are well aware, the 4th annual MMWS GTG and pig roast is coming up fast. OK......so I ain't gonna roast a pig (or rent one out) this year......I'm gonna smoke some butt roasts again. At any rate, I'd rather not pass a hat......or ask for donations at the GTG. If possible I'd prefer to get the funding part over with before the GTG begins so that all we gotta do is race saws, shoot the chit, and eat pork.

We're gonna have 8 x 8 and 10 x 10 poplar cants for the cubic inch classes, and we'll need 4 12 x 12 in poplar (if possible) for the build off saws. Then there's the over large stuff I ask all the local sawmills about......and the "normal" sized stuff for the general cutting up. Then there's the *s-wordter rental......it all adds up fast.

Every year the folks that attend do a fantastic job of funding this event. Last year some members gave up saws for prizes to help raise the needed funds. That really worked out well, and was pretty fun too !!!!

So this year I have a pretty nice Makita 6401 that has a few mods done to it......I thought it might be fun to throw in the ring since that's the build off saw this year.

Edit:

Our friend Tim has added a nice cruiser axe to the list of prizes. Picture below...

And.......Mark has added a unmolested vintage Boy Scout hatchet w sheath.

Sausage Fingers has donated (4) slightly used 3/8 .050 72dl square ground work chains.

AJ has donated a 3.5 lb German style axe.

I'll get a GFM set up for this gig.....ya'll know how it works.

Donate Here !!!!!

Now.....about the saw. It's a pretty nice 6401. I got it in a trade a few months ago. It has a new OEM 7910 jug with the lightweight piston. Cut squish, ported, gutted muffler, etc..... It's also got a new HD filter system on it. I figure it probably leaks some oil, cause most of these do. LOL

It actually runs too !!!!!

One thing I forgot to mention.......you do not have to be present to win this saw. If you just wanna get a shot at the saw......that's fine. I'd be glad to ship it after the GTG.

Edit:

This fundraising effort will end on October 12th.

Donated...albeit I won't be able to make it. That's the weekend son Jared is coming back home. Original EAS (End of Active Service) is 10 Nov (he left for the Navy four years ago on the Marine Corps' birthday). With his 30 days of terminal leave he has built up and can take with pay, it backs up his EAS to Fri, 11 Oct.

I ain't never seen no DooD Nine bars. I thought they was a punk rock band from the early 80s?

In...since I am in the GFM picture and whatnot. Looking forward to it Randy.

Now I know why that picture makes me queasy.

I can run it by him, if he's in, I'm in. I don't know if his mother will like it...I'm willing to bet the farm that's a big NOT...but I'll damn sure ask him. I'm sure his mother has him booked solid either all day Sat or all day Sun on that wknd.

That would be a damn nice little road trip for me and Jared...and hang out for a couple of days. Jared and I would have a damn blast on the plateau with you folks.
