Have had a 395xp carcass sitting for a little while. Decided to try to find the parts I need to get it put together. Surprisingly, I had some good parts that I can use. Yes, I have a 394 cylinder on there now, that’s just to keep the bottom end clean. I know I had a couple 395 cylinders...just have to locate them. Thought I knew where they were...apparently I was wrong. Lol.
My ultimate goal, is to build the saw up in OEM form, then try one of the aftermarket piston/cylinder combos to see what the difference is.

Bottom end was pretty much complete...looks like I may need a coil, or just a coil lead. Had the muffler and clutch cover. Will need to find a Recoil assembly, and some top cover pieces.
Found the cylinders...

sub'd! I have a similar plan, got this new 395xp hyway big bore popup kits from a friend (dealer) for testing. I let the BB saw compete against my oem ported 395, first stock with popup, then ported.

Looks not so bad, they have visibly improved in the last couple years

Sweet! Have a project 395 on the way. Gonna follow this one. Gonna need a flywheel for it. Why are flywheels so hard to find for these?

See where the piston windows line up to them
With the Piston at BDC it looks like to match the lower with the Piston window I need to raise it nearly a 1/2 inch does that sound right it looks like a lot

That’s a lot more than I would think. I wouldn’t raise it that far.
