For those who want to add the case guard, it can be added to saws with out the bosses. I done it to mine. Bolt to the bottom and use a self centering drill bit drill pilot holes, tap the holes and go.
Thanks for posting this! I had the thought to mention that tapping for the guard was easy but forgot about it in the torrent of putting this thread together.

While I was in the area I attached the ID tag from my original case half. Retaining rivets just drive in with a punch. To remove a tag without destroying it simply rotate the fasteners counter clockwise with a chisel and hammer. Don’t bother trying to drill them, they’re hard as wood pecker lips.

Any deets on the rivets you used? have a 272 tag I need to swap to a NOS case

A case guard is a simple but necessary add on for a 394 in my opinion. These saws get big chunks knocked out of the front of the case a lot, this is cheap insurance.

Remove the nut on the buffer mount stud.

Put the case guard on the stud and install the 2 front mount bolts, tighten the stud nut last. Easy peasy....

Sorry but I don’t, it was included in the wrap kit I got from baileys. Insanely cheap if you haven’t looked, $40 for wrap, big dogs and case guard IIRC.

Better yet its only $29 and change from a dealer. The whole kit.

Didn’t know that. Isn’t that nuts? Then other kits like the 372 wrap kit cost $100 or something like that.

I heard it was due to them not offering the 395 as a wrap. Just put one on my 394. Mine is a early low top, doesn't even have the bosses in the front of tha case for the guard.

Have a part number on the case guard?

Download the manual for the saw. Search 394/395 manual and parts list. Both PDF’s pop up for download. Even straight from the Husqvarna site. All the part numbers are shown.

Any current production model husky that has a wrap kit available is cheap because the factory doesn't install them this includes the 562,372,390,395 and now the 572. If I told you what the dealer pays it would shock you, just be sure to order the wrap kit and not the wrap itself, the kit is cheaper then just the wrap alone.

Don't buy the individual parts like I did, before I new about the kit. IIRC the guard was 20ish bucks.
