372xp taking a bit to come to idle

I've noticed my 372xp sometimes takes 8 seconds or longer to come back to idle after a long cut or when cutting stumps. Any ideas?

If your carb area is clean and cable moving freely, check for air leaks using carb cleaner.

Richen the low speed screw, (counterclockwise) if that doesn't fix it it is probably pulling air somewhere.

Yes.

It also starts on 3rd pull when cold and always starts with a 1/4 pull off the rope when warm.

Yep. Just fatten it up when using it on long cuts like that. It's getting hot, and running a little lean from the heat. Different tunes for different things.

Just got through building a 372 from case up all oem. Rebuilt carb and fueled up and fired on 3rd. pull. set idle at 2700 to 2800 and it will idle flawlessly . put in wood tuned fat at 12500 and it holds at 9k to 10k in cut. I too have noticed it takes a few seconds to idle down. checked for air leaks and found none. my other 2 idles down instantly. I figure post #7 covers this also ?

These things are almost always either tune, or metering height Gary. Double check metering height.......and start over with carb setting at 1.25 turns out on both screws.
