I just finished a complete rebuild of a 372. Cranked up and saw idles ,runs as one should. The idle screw has no bearing on rpm when screwed all the way in ! Thoughts?

Something with the return spring or throttle cable?in other words it's already held open enough that the idle screw has no affect.

And if that's the case the L screw would have to be very rich or it would be spinning the chain for sure.

On mine @TreeMonkey discovered that the throttle plate was cocked ever so slightly clockwise, so the notch in the plate wasn't lined up with the little fuel holes in the Venturi body. It affected me the same way, the idle screw wasn't affecting the idling of the saw and it was hard to tune.

He actually mentioned about 3 or 4 things it could have been, all of which he said he's seen, but it turned out to be he first one and I forgot about the others.
