Here's my 371 it was a scrap yard find. It'll be nice to have the proper decals.

My decals are on the way![emoji106]
That's a modern 372 starter cover with felling mark cutout. So you are getting 371 decal with cutout for felling mark (you may have to make cutout right?)

You will be very happy with their decal. Made nice I think from vinyl should last a long time.

I talked to Joe some more about the decal, and he said for the future orders you'll need to specify whether original or replacement starter covers.

A good portion of his stuff isn't listed on chainsawr either.

And good looking 371xp! Not bad for a scrap yard find!

My 372 is from first year of production when they just switched from the 371. The sticker is different than the newer style sold. Just an interesting thing I noticed. It also has the older style starter cover with no brace on the fins. I think they did that cause the fins were breaking on the covers.

Yes I specified the decal with cutouts.

I replaced the plastics when I built it. I still have the originals that are in good shape, just faded. The original starter cover still has all the fins which is kinda rare.

Thanks! Mechanically it was in sad shape when I got it. Pretty much replaced everything including the crank and P/C. Could've bought a good running saw for what I have into it but that's not any fun. [emoji16]

@huskyboy you got a picture of yours? I didn't check if you already posted some in this thread. If not I'm curious to see the cover and such. 1st year 372 -- way cool. Upstate NY GTG not too far off. I should make it out there!

image.jpeg image.jpeg Excuse the rough shape of this saw but it's a sleeper ;) it's got a 52mm bb I messed with and runs a 8 pin 20 or 24. This saw is a 2000 and I believe 99 was last year of the 371 and this saw has the see through fuel tank that the 371s used as well.

Nice! and there's those big fins like 371. Part of the motivation to change was chips getting in there and strength of the fins too I've heard.

I don't think you had that one at Dan's that day. But I think I may have ran that one if you had it the last CT GTG. If you had it there I know I at least watched you run it before or after you ran my 262.
Bring it to the NY GTG or CT GTG I'd like to take it for a spin! Should kick my 372 X-torq model being mine is stock. At some point I'll at least open up the muffler on my saw.... although they sound really nice stock -- nice bark at idle.

If I had to do it again I'd go oem, but I have to say I like the torque of the bb. It turns up too, 14,200rpm. But I keep it around 13,500rpm. All I did was throw out the base gasket, mod muffler and plug decomp. And sure I'll bring it to the gtg anytime. The mufflers on these saws aren't really that restrictive stock I noticed there just a hollow can.

Be careful when you grind out under deflector to keep under the deflector edges. I took it just a tad far on my 346 I had and burned the top cover :(

There's also one more thing that isn't "correct" here. If anyone picks it out I'd be impressed.

Well, since ya asked.................

There's actually a couple more besides the decal cutouts. The starter housing has the additional ribs that were introduced around 02-03. I think Huskyboy's starter pic shows the earlier housing. And, the 2 top cover decals should be all yellow.

But that is a stellar job you did there Matt. Outstanding.

You're the man to ask was the oem single ring 371 piston the same overall height as a oem double ring 372
