Is the washer that the oil pump gear rides on in place? I'd like to see a picture of the carnage...

The washer was in place. Lemme see what I can do about a picture. It's pretty graphic, be forewarned...

Also, why does the IPL give me two different part numbers for the same crank sleeve?
503 77 91-01
503 96 70-01
Or, if there is a difference, what are they? I cannot tell....

Sorry for the delay. Things have been kinda crazy lately. Sooo, I put all the new parts in with little to no change in how it runs. It seems to be fine(ish) when the saw is cold, but becomes less cooperative when it warms up. I went back and vac/pressure tested again, and it passed. I'm beginning to think the coil is what's giving me grief. I was hoping a $50 AM coil would actually been decent. And to rub salt in the wound, I readjusted the air gap and retarded the timing a bit to see what might happen, when I went to start the saw, the recoil bound up, and somehow ripped the spring catch off the starter housing. I do believe this machine is cursed....

The return spring on the carb goes into a hole. This hole can sometimes start sucking in air. Hell knows how but I have had two oe 372xp carbs do this. I pull the spring, put some jb weld or similar and then put the spring back in. Seems to fix the erratic idle issues on the two I’ve had. Seems like a wild shot but worth checking. Basically the hole leaks in and around the check ball on the choke flap.

Interesting. I'll have a look. Thanks!
