Thanks Joe. I’m going to grab a 257 out of the same junk pile this saw came from. I’ll let you know what I still need after I get it. Always a pleasure doing business with you.
a 257 will donate you with most of the parts you need.
Main difference between 254 vs 257 is:
Crank
Top end
Muffler + bracket
Top cover
Front handle bar

Yes sir it will, that’s why I’m gonna grab one.:) If my memory serves me correctly there’s a near complete one there. Thanks for laying out the differences Tor, that’s what is so good about threads like this.

That cover came from chainsawr used, as the original was melted from a fire it was in, only saw I've seen with enough miles on it that the chrome plating was worn through the cylinder walls. Owner just kept putting rings in it and sawing. Tough saw, that's for sure and a performer as well.
Now I have to go through three 353's the same fella has as they won't go as good as the 254 and it's stock.
out of the sale volume in Norway I dont get many 254 project from my dealer, it just seems that they last forever. I get mostly 346's and 550's in the 50cc class.

Here’s everything I need except a meteor piston kit and a gasket set, so add $55 to the total. This saw will be up and running for roughly $225 including what I gave for the “dead saw” at my dealer. I call this one a win. The first of the month cannot get here fast enough!!!

That total is likely to go down if you order from Jeff, even with sales tax. I know he sells the crank bearings a little cheaper than that, and likely a bit cheaper on the rest of the parts too.

Example: The parts estimate total for that 55 I did for Jim was about $15 higher from the online source than what Jeff's prices were. I bet you are right around $200 even.

And hell yeah that's a win!

Good to know, I thought Jeff was pretty close to online pricing. Guess I’ll be taking the list to him....I need to get over there to grab a 257 anyway.

Yep, I have my last bunch of parts ordered for the 242 that should be there by weeks end and I plan to take a ride over there...

I think they are open today, give Andy a call with your parts list and see what it comes out to

Went to my dealer and ordered all my parts, I saved about $20 going through him. Thanks for reminding me @RIDE-RED 350r . The only part I’m still hunting for is the heat deflector, they are NLA. Can another deflector be trimmed to fit??? I searched feverishly for the 257 that was there last week and I’ll be damned it was gone. Grabbed this basket case 262XP instead, I was just going to buy the flywheel off of it but for what I paid ya’ll would’ve brought the whole thing home too.
