I’ve been wanting to find a good builder for a while. Only thing missing is flywheel, starter assy and muffler. Needs a piston, with any luck the cylinder will clean up. Everything else is cleaning and longevity repairs like bearings, seals, lines etc.

Dont know if you are aware of it, but they kinda has a bullet proof design.

I remember when I drove to pick up my first batch 262xpg's, the guy had found some other trashed saws to me as well, drove home with a big grin, not only did I scored 8th 262 bodies, but I got my first 254SG project
Later when I empty a full trunk and carried them indoor I counted 5×254, but I had also overseen the two real pearls into this (blended by them 254's) a beautiful 444SG and a minty 372xpg oe

same flywheel & starter assy as 257/261/262 use, they should be an easy task.
Muffler is special for 254, but I wonder if a 55 muffler also fit

It appears to be an older model as it doesn’t have the “XP” designator on the tag.

It appears to be an older model as it doesn’t have the “XP” designator on the tag.

they swapped starter assy after s/n 0150175, wasnt anything done with the jugs&pistons, nor was it later, so your 254 is a true 254 XP.
The biggest upgrade happen after your saw, s/n 3360001, the crank got a bigger con rod bearing, that said, out of 8 254's I've yet to seen a blown 254 crank, cant say the same about 262

Them 51/55 coils is also the same, if I remember correct the fuel tank, clutch, and ruffly all the 51/55 brake parts is a fit also.

Thanks big bro I’m excited. @Tor R mentioned it being a bullet proof saw and I think I know why. It looks like a 2/3 size 288 by design. So now I have a 288 mini me. Lol! 2-series bullet proof muscle FTW!!!!
