I'd get a Caber ordered and toss that ring out. I'd look closely at the bevel on the ports, it might need a larger bevel. This wear doesn't look normal to me.

Marshy, yeah looking a little rough in there.

Forgot to get a plug for decomp from work. If 12” is enough vacuum, no leaks methinks. Rolled engine over too. Pulling the top end now.

Side note: with straight edge and feeler gauge, rakers are .025”.

The pit is the only obvious flaw to me.

Caliper time...what measurements should I get?526F7D86-DB3B-4BA9-8F8F-6799B7012DAE.jpeg1240C7E2-295A-430E-8E29-9D1F7EC19B73.jpeg952A3024-8CCC-4CBD-8902-B9C144219503.jpeg495A9374-E345-43A2-9099-4F217177F30A.jpeg8099DABD-75DD-4166-A4E0-FD94FC2A79CE.jpeg

Gasket is .018” compressed. Planning to stick it back together without it after measuring and see what happens.

There's a hump in the exhaust floor that coincides with the shiny spot in the ring. Needs to be an arc shape. The ring is catching on it and is gonna hang soon. I'm with Marshy and Jim on this one

@Spike60 would you happen to have some trigger parts, clamps, etc. around?

Got everything. Including the OEM top ends when you get fed up with that thing. Caber ring might not get along too well with the plating on cheap AM cylinders.

Another thing to look for with these saws and the 346's while we're at it regarding not getting full throttle: Check to make sure the rear mount, above the gas cap, isn't loose or distorted/stretched. If it is, it changes all the geometry and you've can't get full travel on the throttle link. Gotta pull the outside screw and then check to see that the inside screw is snug.

Yep
I saw that too.

Those ports look absolutely horrible.

Excellent, and thanks for the info. Getting parts out West seeems hard to do. I’ll be in touch as soon as I can between running the shop today. I have a tree job lined up that will pay for all my CAD, need to get this saw straight and need some chains, etc. for it and my others.

You also realize that the throttle linkage is bad, correct? It was mentioned before you posted the pic, but not since. The rod isn't supposed to stick through the plastic on both ends.
