Knock it off fellers...I'm a man of peace--not war. lol
I think I may just slide up to a 18' bar & square chisel and relegate the 16' bar to my 026.
Just trying to be more efficient with my horsepower & back...

BTW...is 20' bar & with square chisel too much for the MS261c?
How bout if I do something to the "muff?":p

The 261 will pull the 20" bar just fine. For me personally, I find a good 50cc saw with a 20" bar my favorite combo. Good power and still fairly light. It's definitely my most used saw.

The sharper the chain the easier it is on the saw.

Good strong stock 50cc is fine with .325 20” full comp. 3/8 is a bit much at 20” unless you mod/port the saw. I like a 60cc better with a 20” 3/8. Lot more torque than a 50cc saw if your burying the bar or bore cutting.

Can you post a picture of you using the saw, so we can see just how long of a bar you will need.
Asking for a friend.
Thank you

I think 18" is a good compromise size for 50cc saws that ideally run best with 16''b/c. Yesterday I ran 20" 3/8 full skip & my ported 261 really struggled. But the wood density plays a big part in what performs. The good thing about .325 too is the small diameter sprocket giving you the most potential torque.

Understandable.
And here is another thought. This is a bone stock husky55 pulling 3/8s skip 24" bar. It really has no business doing this. I imagine your 261 would fair considerably better.

You just made me grit my teeth!

Tough cut to judge the bar and chain. The noodle cut is tough on saws. Lots of variables involved. Maybe a cross cut would have been better?

oh for sure, that's a old piece of oak. I still have some of it left. Maybe I should make another video with a bigger saw?

3/8 chain definitely puts more stress on smaller "unported" saws to pull it effectively. .325 chain is more forgiving. Probably why the .325 is recommended by manufacturers.
