Here is the ongoing saga of my 1996 F150. I had to get rid of my 2012 F150 if we were ever going to be able to afford a house. So after going truckless for a few years I found this a farm in was visiting for work. It's a 96 F150 XLT with 300ci straight six, 4x4, heavy suspension package (helper springs in rear, quad shocks in the front) front and rear ls axles, 80k miles and my favorite: porno red interior!

Here' some pics from when I drove home. No rear brakes, broken leaf spring. Luckily I was able to take all back roads to my parents house where it sat for the next year lol.

Here' pics from the day I brought it home:

Don't have as many pics from the front end. But replaced coil springs, radius arm brackets and bushings, 4 shocks, ball joints, u joints, lockout hubs, bumper and various tidbits lol. Also replaced rear tow hitch with a new Curt class IV.

The past few months have been spent working out some kinks: blower motor resistor, washer pump, and some dual fuel tank issues. Changed the auto tranny fluid and filter and upgraded the gauge cluster to one with a tach. Put about 3000 miles on so far and couldn't be happier. Need to replace radiator core support in the spring and will slowly try to get body work done as money allows. Thanks for looking!

Nice project, good work man. Looking forward to the green grass and trees leafing out again like in your first shots!

Right on. I love my 300 six. I've put about 40k on mine in the last 6 years pretty much without a problem. Not a power house, but it never complains. Mine's in a 3/4 ton with the ZF 5 speed. Just a couple weeks ago I pulled my tractor (about 6k), my splitter (about 1k), my skidding winch (500#) and pallet forks (another 500#) on my 22' deckover (3500#?). I'm not gonna say it was fun, but it did the job.

Looks like that truck was originally sold 1 mile from here.

We had a 95 F150 6cyl 5 spd, i can tell you what the weight limit is, never load a a JD 350 track loader on a triaxle....roughly 17k and try pulling it up hills. low range 1st gear, it just pulled and pulled and pulled until the driveshaft twisted...then the fun began because there were no trailer brakes and not nearly enough brakes on the truck to hold it.

My first truck when I was 16 was a 93 f150 4x4 with sraight six, 5 speed. Reg cab short box. These are my favorite style trucks and I've always wanted an xlt with red interior and Alcoa aluminum rims. It just took a while. My dream would be to have a OBS F350 with 460 but this was all about being cheap lol.

The 300 is definitely a workhorse but slow and steady wins the race with her.

I know this truck spent it's whole life in NY. It tranferred from original owner in 2002ish and was sold to the farmer I got it from in 2012. He never put it on the road.

I can't wait until it's green out again. Winters got to me this year. Plus I'll be able to use my nose vent windows again! One of my favorite features lol
