As some as you know, I have the truck my grandpa purchased brand new in January 1988. When he bought a new truck in 2008 he gave it to my cousin. My cousin lives in Cincinnati and the road salts up there are not kind to vehicles. The truck is pretty corroded from 7 years in Ohio. I got the truck from my cousin in 2015 after he could not keep it running. So I jumped in the F-350 and away we went.

This is the first tim i had seen the truck in 8 years.

Here it is all loaded up for the journey home. My cousin, sad, the truck is leaving.

Fast forward last week. The frame broke in half while i had lifted it up at work to replace a starter.

The plan all along was a full restoration along with a replacement frame. Ironically i had just picked up a rust free parts truck 4 days before the frame broke.

With a broken frame thrown in the mix now, the plan had to be moved forward much sooner than anticipated. Sunday i pulled the parts truck into the shop and started to tear it down. Got the entire front clip removed and the interior gutted.

I had an '88 F150 short box. Raised a lot of hell in that truck.

How's the underbody? I'd guess not great by the looks of that frame.

Most the bed and cab are crap. Im sure i could have the rust cut out and replaced but rust free componets are dirt cheap.

Thats the plan! Dont have enough money for body and paint right now so the cab and bed are headed for the barn for now! Just building the frame and running gear and putting my rusty body back on till the cooking jar gets filled.

Last night a friend came over and helped me remove the camper shell and bed. 4 of the 6 bed bolts came right off. One snaped off and had to cut the other. I am very happy with the condition of the frame. Got a quote of 500 to have the frame and I-beams blasted, primed, and painted today. I dont think thats too bad at all.
