1122 400 1314 coil query.

Hi,

I’ve been looking at trying a 1122 400 1314 coil on an 084, as I have seen this done many times on forums.

I have some questions though, I have seen two different coils labeled 1122 1314, with different mounting arrangements, one seems a direct fit and the other needs an adaptor, I have attached pictures of both I have found online, seems to be something going on here I am missing?

I also wondering if anyone has tried both both the 1300 and 1314 coils, and could say if there is a difference in starting? I think the 1300 is a dummy coil and the 1314 has some retard/advance characteristics, so might be nicer to start?

Coils sold as 1314s in the above style are available, but I think they may be dummy coils based on a universal 1300 coil.

What it looks like to me is the coil in the second picture had the laminates swapped out with laminates from another coil (which
is possible to do with most Stihl ignitions).

The VEC coil in the last picture is a replacement for 1122 400 1300, which is the "Dogleg" coil that came on the early 064s.
