The plating on the bevel looks normal all the way to the edge.
I saw that too, but I’ve not yet seen any turn marks on any factory Stihl bases

Here is a brand new oem jug

And I’ve yet to see any untouched oem used juggs that have those telltale turn witness marks

Check the oem ones you have, do any untouched ones have them witness marks ?

Either way, super cool build that I’m anxiously waiting to watch as you make this run !

I’d be interested to know how they got the 288 ring tucked in as the cylinder needs .060 to .070 off the base minimum to get the ring end supported above the intake

Comes with Stihl parts to keep it durable?

I guess it depends on where they're made or something.
Here's two stock 044 jugs. One slant fin and a regular non decomp.20180319_160854.jpg

Ugh...I want to fuggin puke. I pulled my 066 short case small crank carcass out to prep and the damn rod small end journal and big end bearings are corroded beyond use. I had another really good one but I gave it away thinking this one was good.
I wasn't planning on putting this set up on a 660 long case, but at this point if I'm going to try it out any time soon then that'll be my only option.

I think I got a couple metal-flywheel cranks in my spares box.

Is the spacer sitting outside the footprint of the base? Doesnt appear to be at top right corner of trans tunnel.

Love it Jim, kinda reminds me of a Poulan PRO 505 or a Jonsered 930 Super. How do you think it stacks up to the 505 you worked on a while back?
This thing is stronger than a stock 660, but I'm going to reserve my full judgement for when I get a few things dealt with.
