066 red light

G'day all I have an old 066 rl here atm and never worked on one before .
Now I was tuning it and once I get the rev up a bit the tac go's nuts like a limited coil so does the signal that turns the led on interfere with the tac ......

Limited coils will make a tach go nuts when you hit the limiter.

What brand of tach?
I may or may not have not paid attention to the arrow thats supposed to point towards the plug/wire the first time I used my Fast Tach and had some seriously weird rpm readings.

I have a fast tach tiny tach too, mine kinda gets erratic readings if I don’t get close enough to the plug or in the right spot. But yeah it goes nuts if a saw hits a limited coil.

It’s a limited coil, you can double check by looking at which slot the flywheel key is in.

Fast tac it works in the 261 460 and anything with a unlimited coil it is doing the same thing as the 461 you get up to about 9000rpm and then it just go's to

461 is limited to 13,600 or 13,800

Red light should be 13,200

Thanks it's an old banger and an ex loggers saw so done a tone of work , I will tune it a bit fat and he should be good to go he got it for $100 just for his firewood saw .
