I am trying to decide on a bar and chain for my Stihl 064, I would like it to have some compatibility with my 044.
I have decided on a 24" bar and there is on on a NZ auction site, it's a GB Professional protop with the markings 2159 J024-58P.
Included in the auction is a 20" GB bar with the markings 2900 ???O-58PA, (photo is not very clear).
I assume both bars are .058 gauge?, I have chains that I want to use but are .063.
If I buy the bars can I use them with the chains I have or would I have to buy new chains for the bars?. What are the pros and cons of using one gauge vs the other in different gauge bars?.
Cheers.
