Bought a wood stove for the garage, need to fund the venting.

Asked around a bit and got answers all over the place.

What is a good specimen, fresh build, operational 056 Mag 2 worth these days?

Don't want to start a listing and look like a doucher coming in too high but don’t want to get hosed either.

PM if you’re uncomfortable throwing numbers out in the open forum or if you have any interest in buying the saw.

Any input appreciated, thanks in advance.

I feel like the interest in someone buying it will be if you can confirm that it's a Mag II and not a super. I got boned by that once from ebay.

Depends on appearance, whether it's set up in the western style, and if it comes with a bar and chain. I was getting $500-550 a pop for nice Mags and Mag IIs back in the day (ten years ago).

I ended up selling three to one guy in Illinois who was milling and slabbing big hardwoods. I sold two to a guy in Texas with a stump grinding/stumping business. They're heavier
than more modern saws but it's hard to beat them for sheer grunt and ability to take abuse.

Dave, I was just looking at this today. Seems like a few months ago they were fetching good money. I’ve got a nice 056 Magnum I’ve been sitting on. It’s funny how a model get hot and brings top dollar then the market cools off for no reason.

Didn’t mean to poop on ur parade. Hope I’m wrong

I always miss the good stuff.

Except the wood stove... got a killer deal on that.

I wouldn't flinch at asking $500 for that one, especially if the compression is great. The aftermarket is starting to make parts for those so people
will be able to keep them running for the foreseeable future.

What’s good stock compression JJ?
I’ll go give it a few tugs.

Giggity.

They don't go as high as an 066 or MS-660. I would say that the healthy range is 140-155psi. The combustion chamber is a bit bigger
than 064/066/MS-660. They have a more hemispherical chamber. Does the brake work? That's icing on the cake if it does.

This sounds like an ebay add.

So what brand of venting are you gonna plumb in?

As heavy as an 056 sm2 is, I cant imagine selling mine. I'm not sure I could take not hearing it bite into a log. That being said, if she's a runner I wouldn't bat an eye at 500$.
