The book calls for 24.34 ft lbs of torque on the flywheel nut.

Got the key from Definitive Dave...Thanks!!
FYI this key is different than the standard woodruff keys found at the local hardware store, I am guessing it is metric or something.

I attached the key to a very strong magnet (it is pretty small) and used a dremel with a grinding wheel to take off about 1/3 of the width at the top of the key.

I reinstalled the key and flywheel and spun the flywheel left, against the newly cut part of the key, pressed it in and put the rope in the spark plug hole for a left tightening, avoiding ports, held the flywheel left with my hand and tightened down, took rope out, spun the flywheel right and reinserted rope and torqued the nut to 25 ft/lbs.

Put it all back together and it fired right up, sounds like a million dollars!

Thanks everyone!!

Glad to hear it was not a failure just a loose nut and sheared key. Do you notice a improvement with the timing advanced?
