It pays good and can be done in less than an hour, unless it's a burb or a yuk, have to drain tank to be able to clear diff., then it's a two man job.

Took me less than 5 minutes to remove the drive shaft. My truck is a Duramax Diesel.
But I do undetstand that a lift is much easier for sure.

I don't and will not touch a diesel, maybe a fuel filter but thats it. No training in diesels and don't want to learn. I do mostly electronics and electrical, mechanical. Master tech, minus diesels, hybrids are a pain sometimes, hate that they have started back with the hybrid trucks again. Sales department keep ordering thoses.

Removed box on my truck several times to spray frame with Chassis Saver, replace fuel lines and fuel cooler. My method is to undo 8 bolts, unplug two electrical plugs and filler neck, lift it off with loader tractor and drive out (one person job). Local auto parts makes nylon replacement fuel lines, much less expensive than oem lines.

If you're doing all that Brake lines are a must. I like the doorman kits.

I did the same, the stainless brake line kit from Dorman was less than $100.
What LMC wanted $200 for my 91 Suburban. Thats like 200 times the value of that pos!

Glad we don't have problems with rust around here, if we did, labor rates would go up.

I got the new fuel pump in. I didnt like the idea of cutting access hole in box so unbolted box and propped up with a board.
Good way to do it but if i had an extra guy id rather pull box write off. That lock ring was a royal pain to get off bit i got it after beating with a chissel and hammer.
When i puller the pump out some rust peaces fell in tank. I took a extendable magnet and got all i could get out.

As for the fuel leak he thought he had. I had the truck running for about 20 mins and i never seen any leaks.
Ther is a big exhaust leak on the catalitic converter. That may be messing with the fuel consomption if giving the O2 sensor false reading?

Anyhow i ran out of light and energy lol. Been doin lots of ot at work. Will finish tightening box bolts tomorrow and hook up lights and bolt the filler neck back in and take for test drive and recheck for furl leak to be safe.

Thanks for the help.

Fix the exhaust leak, it will mess with the o2 sensor reading, make it think it's lean and will fatten the fuel some.

I wonder if thats the problem with my 91 suburban. Its running super rich after it warms up. And theres nothing from the cat back.

Those just used on sensor, an exhaust leak or a vacuum leak will mess with the sensor unless the sensor it's self is bad. Bad fuel pressure regulator will cause system to run lean or rich.

Hey Steve i have a question maybe you can answer...
I have a 2001 sierra 3500 with a Dmax,i am looking for a code for the wiring going to the rear of the truck. This truck has a wrecker deck on it and 2 blind monkeys did the wiring.I want to clean it up and get rid of all the junk wiring and would like to know what the stock wires do by color.
This truck started life as a dualy pickup.
Thanks Thomas
