I hate cleaning nasty saws up, but the results are satisfying.

I haven't attempted to clean up the front of the case yet. I'm sure glad he didn't paint the whole saw!

This carb cleaner will remove even the factory finish, given enough time. Hopefully I can get the paint off without ruining the original finish. I'll re-paint the front of the case, only as a last resort. I'd like to leave it original.

I also use this cleaner to remove staining from the original finish. It will leave it dull though.

Much better! Should I leave it as is, or paint the front of the case?

The brake handle cleaned up nicely.

Powder coating is the only way to go imho, but I would leave it like that, looks sprightly ;) any "gains" planned Brad? I would like to see it snellerized :D

Looks good as is brad .I would leave it as is also. It gives it the lightly used look.

Nope. I only intended to flip this saw.
I flipped an 028 last year for $190 plus the ride. Only reason I sold it was because I already had four, one of which is an early 028 with no chain brake. So, now I have three. Once they run, they are very dependable saws. I have a 20" bar on the strongest one and 18" bars on the other two.

The only reason I think Stihl discontinued them was because the 026 PRO came out with about the same power but less weight and smaller, more fuel efficient engine. But, I think the 028 has more grunt than an 026 PRO, and by the time Brad is through with this one, I'm sure it will too.
