028 intake port.

The intake port on this 028 an has this little nipple on the piston side, can this be removed when opening up the intake port?Intake_zpsvuyqg164.jpg

I did what you thought you would do.... :(
CHIT is an understatement. o_O
Can thin it a little but cannot remove it, holds the ring ends in place.
I guess I will slide the cylinder back on and see how bad I flubbed it up.

I put the cylinder back on and see that both ring ends are on either side of the intake opening and supported by the cylinder wall. But I do see how the bottom ring may not have enough support. Since I removed the little nipple, I assume it is a consensus that I screwed this jug?

Is the whole ring into the intake port at bdc? Maybe a base gasket delete (If possible) would lower the cylinder enough to keep the ring above the intake opening. Or like Brad mentioned, leave the bottom ring out

Nah
The gasket would need to 0.1875” thick....lol

With the base gasket out, even the top ring just barely starts to peek into the port at bdc. I think the top ring will be fine, but then I thought taking out the support nip was oko_O
just stake the bottom ring center of port, the rest of the ring will still serve a purpose
Damn... that is a very intriguing idea....

Do ALL oem stihl cylinder have "Stihl" cast into them?
