Well, my doughy mitts managed to tear the old fuel line & cause a leak fuel right above the tank.:polutxoso:
I was installing a new fuel filter on the "incredibly short" old fuel line of my 028 Super.
I do have a new fuel line already.
Is there some other shortcuts other than pulling the carb off, disconnecting throttle and so forth?
I gotta get this saw moving...and not moving towards a shop bill!
I read some posts about using long curved hemostats and oiling end to push through from the inside.

Thanks

A little silicone spray, or two cycle mix on the molded grommet, and you shouldn't have a problem pulling it through.

Them 028 fuel lines are some short on the tank end. Filter won't lay flat on the tank floor.

Next one I do will get a grommet and a length of R3 line.

It is a piece of cake to remove the carb. Get it the heck out of your way. You can fish your new line up through the hole with a thin cord or wire. Then wiggle the grommet into place. Put the filter on first.

I believe the fuel line from an 036 will fit, and is longer.
I also have an 028 Super, and was talking to @Canadian farm boy about the same problem. He told me about the 036 line. Mike, can you confirm this is correct?
This sounds right but I honestly can't remember now for sure.

He already bought a new hose. Just use it and move on to cutting wood. I'm sure 028's have cut several cubic miles of wood in the US alone...

i used a oem line with a large weighted stihl brand filter to get it to contact the floor of the gas tank.
i applied a little oil to grommet and it went in easy.

Good stuff right here.
A friend of mine said, an 038 line is longer and the filter is a perfect fit.
Anybody know of this?
Sounds like SOS had success with 036 lines in 028 tsnk.

***THE 028 SUPER LIVES!!***
Pulled the air filter & carb, lubed her up real good and after some initial resistance it slid right in!;)
Yes...I'm referring to the fuel line. lol

Thanks for all the help & encouragement.
I actually thought by removing the carb, I would botch it up...finished it in about 12 minutes.
Runs about 8 1/2 - 9, but I'm not going to worry about it---I'm a perfectionist and rarely am I satisfied with much of anything...it has it's blessings & snares!:coleman:
