The 421/4300 is about bulletproof of a saw I've seen. I still haven't seen a 350/351/420/421/4300 with a damaged piston & cylinder. We even ran a 420 on straight gas with only some fuel treatment and it still didn't blow up.

The PS-350/420 there were a few bugs with. Fuel line, coils, and chain tensioner pegs. Also had a few with Walbro's that would lean out. I'm trying to remember when the Zama became standard. Sometime after the 421 was released.

It has been my best seller right through and hardly any faults with them at all
The carb change was Dec 2012

It’s another legend like the 115

So here's a story about the straight gassed 420. Had a customer with a redmax GZ4000 saw with a broken oiler. He wanted to know if I had a saw he could borrow. Gave him that 420 and told him it's on straight gas if it blows up don't worry about it.

Should of saw the look on his face[emoji53][emoji46]

Actually that Redmax GZ4000 came in trade if anybody is interested. It was the worlds first Strato chainsaw to come market in 2004 I believe it was.

I'll reach for the 421 over the my MS260 anytime. They're both nice small saws, but 421 is the only saw I have that guys want to keep using when we're on a charity cut for church members for example. Cuts well above it's size. It's a keeper!

We were experimenting with some "gasoline conditioner". Filled it up with straight gasoline and just added a little conditioner.

  • Superior lubrication for fuel pumps, injectors, valves and cylinders
  • Regular use will provide optimum performance even when fuel is stored for long period
  • Contains an octane booster to restore the proper rating and efficiency
  • Insures that the oil performance and viscosity for extended oil change
  • Reduces harmful exhaust emissions
  • Increases engine performance and fuel mileage

So this saw has sat for a couple years. It started on the 3rd pull on whatever fuel was in the tank. I dumped the fuel and added straight gasoline and a little of the conditioner.

This saw is a PS-420 even though the decal says PS-460.

I’m gonna guess it’ll last surprisingly long if you don’t push it too hard. You guys have confidence in your product! Wouldn’t ever do that to one of my saws! Interested to see the outcome...
