    Showing my ignorance...

Some do and it's not helpful these days. I just bought 2 Stihl chains for a 261 and the bar had 45 stamped at end of code (45 cm). Just counted the drivers (74 dl) looking at Stihl chains on line I could only see a 68 dl and a 72 for .325 In 45 cm. Looked up from number on drivers to confirm it...

    Chains: Used Once, Never Sharpened?

Lots of climbing jobs, there may be light cutting on the ground until it's all chipped up. Generally they just grab another saw from the truck if they hit something or there is a more experienced guy to file and junior guys don't file on the job. May lean while doing maintenance. If he runs one...

    Chains: Used Once, Never Sharpened?

Buying for 17 and selling for 12 is cheaper than paying someone to grind if he had that option

    Chains: Used Once, Never Sharpened?

Whatever works for a guy. Knew a shop that had a bundle cutting contract and ran full comp on a 72" bar At first he would make small loops and sell them and probably as new. I would sharpen it when I cut for him and they started to as well. It wasn't too bad once you filed it the first time...

    Trees you've cut

They don't get too much bigger. It's old growth at 130 yrs for the mountain pine. That one looks to be about 160 yrs. Sometimes you can see the yrs there was a fire and old Mountain Pine Beetle (MPB) attacks that It survived. Cool Man.

    Trees you've cut

Stress, bark thickness, true stands and genetics as they may be 'weaker' or a different ash. They can tell a stressed stand and when they attack, then they let off a pheromone like bees. You are right as they will hit the ones on the hill soon. Michigan is the core of north American, which...

Money! lolz The Mountain Pine Beetle needed 2 weeks at -40. Excavating birds like the sapsuckers and woodpeckers can hear them move and feed on them

    592XP info and a surprise

Thing is - it's everything but the engine that wears out first. Prolonging the engine for after 1200 hours is like prolonging the heart for after the liver dies. Maybe 20,000 good ported engines sitting in sheds in British Columbia from the last 30 yrs.

    592XP info and a surprise

Maybe it's not putting out what it should. That saw is said to put out 22 ml per minute at max. Maths says it's empty at 18.5 minutes.?

    592XP info and a surprise

The 372 XTorq didn't have one. They just come with the snow / air restriction cover. No air deverter ramp or gate in cover. They have a double wall to block heat better, I would assume. I didn't mind just the gate. Very cold mornings I would get it hot then shut it off and let it stand up for a...

    592XP info and a surprise

I like to prime them on first start and clean the filter at that time. Don't even need a full pull. Easy on the parts and body. If you can roll chain over the tip part-way then just put your knee in the bar and bend bar and roll it on. If it has an adapter then you can open up an end on the...
