Brought this home yesterday. Started and ran once for a few minutes in 1975. Sitting dry since. A bit of storage rash here and there, but nothing significant. All the original manuals, can of oil etc.
I gather this series was not highly revered. Nonetheless, probably one of the cleanest “free to a good home” local pickups I’ve ever snagged. Missing a couple things, but it started on some fresh juice. Nice rim sprocket and bar. Glad all the plumbing appears sound. Mostly because I don’t...
Hi folks,
Just curious if anyone knows how the oil tank/system is vented on the 65/77 series. I’ve run into a 77 that has an odd vent hole drilled into the forward left corner of the air box. The hole accesses the lower oil tank and somehow bypasses the upper fuel tank. My others in this...
Picked up a few saws. Been away for awhile. Pretty clean 330. Not certain there was difference between the 330/340 top ends, but this one measures over 2” with the throat swab. 4.2 cube? Must have kept the mosquitos at bay. Fires on prime. Probably just plumbing to get it running.
Threw a couple hours at this today. I knew it had a funky spark when I shelved it a year ago. Swore a few times removing the flywheel. Pulled the stator and the cam bushing. Put it all back together with the plate fully clockwise. Cleaned the points. Bites hard if you don’t rip it. At...
Thanks Poge.
I stripped a couple of 031’s down some years ago and still have a bucket of goodies. Slowly pick through it when they come through needing odds and ends. Pretty sure buffers are NLA through the dealer last time I checked. I ordered some cheap knockoffs through Farmertec...
Picked this up yesterday in trade for a used Rancher PTO cover. Was only missing the recoil assembly and had a torn out top AV buffer. Had a spare of each on hand.
Twiddled some knobs and it is running now.
Hi Tim.
That HDC looks like the version that had the accelerator circuit integrated into the idle transition ports. I have run into a few. It applies impulse into the idle circuit upon transition of the index in the throttle shaft. I suppose it was there to allow the L to be set rather lean...
Hi folks,
I am in the process of attempting to put a very low hours roasted 025 together for a buddy. First time working on any clamshell design. I have another 025 with a clean engine but busted up externals. Is it possible to swap the engine over without dropping the engine pan. All I see...
Spotted this one for sale. Piqued my interest. Anyone with experience on this one? I've a couple other Shinny saws that are good runners.
Thanks for enabling me.
Don't know anything about this series. But, I do know it runs like a champ now. Pretty strong. Just not entirely sure what it is. No badge or numbers anywhere. I picked it up with another 65L. Needed the usual and to swap a couple things over to make it complete.
Yard sale today. $22.50 converted from metric. Sporting fresh loops on the XL-1/130. Clean top-ends and running well after twisting some knobs. Super 2 ran when put away according to PO.
Dusted off Dad's Echo. I haven't had it out in a few years. Ran it a couple weeks ago through a couple rounds. Oil pump checks were hung up and it wasn't slobbering like it should. Ended up pulling it all down this past couple of weeks to get to all the plumbing. Oil/fuel systems both good...
Pulled down a 1001 today. Dad's old one. It has been sitting for a few years. Blew through a couple rounds for kicks. I need to break it down again to pull the manual/auto pumps. Checks are likely stuck a bit as it seems to be pulling air a tad. Time for new O-rings on the pumps and fuel...
