    Stihl ms 460/660 Hybrid. 469e

Working around current fueling is a poor train of thought, I’d chase air first, then mod a carb to fuel what I desire… Modding or large carbs isn’t that a small carb can’t keep up, it’s that a larger or modded carb may allow you to either make more peak power, or move your peak power up and cut...

    Stihl ms 460/660 Hybrid. 469e

Great thread, I love seeing the effort and modifications necessary for these types of builds. You’ve done a lot of work keeping everything clean and as proper as it can be! Takes serious time. I’d be getting more air through that HD, numbers are fairly close to what I would start at. Seems to...

    WANTED Square Grinder

A few guys have had CBN wheels made for them, none available openly I don’t believe.

    WANTED Square Grinder

The 450 lacks the webbing that the 451 saw-if you push on the end of the arm the frame flexes far more on the 450, I’ve seen them compared. Arms themselves the 450 is much more rigid absolutely.

    WANTED Square Grinder

What Shaun said…450’s frame flexes too much and arm lacks movement. Welding it up and adding adjustment works. Used properly the 451 is much more rigid and is quite accurate, one of the fastest grinders to roll a chain through. They all have pros and cons for sure.

    HELP! Stroker crank

Even so, takes a pretty sizable machine to cut cranks very well. Been done without, but I don’t recommend 😂

    HELP! Stroker crank

Balance factor is important with cranks, they can’t be 100% balanced from what I understand but balanced in your desired rpm range can matter. Just stroking I doubt balance is altered a ton, should be fine. Adding heavy metals etc has been done as well as offset pins etc. Boring cases is pretty...

    Need a new saw

Maybe he can order you one, they’re available. 562mk2 is a sweet saw. I hate the new stihls, 400 on the bench currently. 562 saw some great upgrades and is a good runner out of the box, very happy with the one I’ve had hands on.

    Carbtard

If comp is too high or run into issues from wide band you can always add a secondary angle and narrow the band and drop comp! Good looking cut.

    3120 coil

That doesn’t look like an OEM coil, if they’re aftermarket then no surprise they don’t last.

    Carbtard

I enjoy math 😄 I derived the equations and made a spreadsheet to calculate port timings and heights; as well as compression, chamber volume, and necessary cuts and compression post cut. It is a helpful tool to see where things will fall with machining to ensure to don’t screw yourself. Some guys...

    Carbtard

Give rod length, squish, and piston height on intake side and measurements from squish band to top of port (bottom for intake) and it can be calculated very precisely. If you have Rod length I can calculate how much the ex with drop with x amount of cut.

    Carbtard

I don’t worry about centering since you still have to dial it in the 4 jaw anyways. I lay base gasket on plate, eyeball the center of bore to center of plate and mark holes.
