    SOLO Solo thread

Jim, thats a nice pair of big SOLOs you've got there. 642 is very hard to find in Germany maybe because lots of them were exported to US? I wouldn't mind finding a 642 by myself but until then I have to stick with my pair of 635 of which I apparently faild to present pictures when I had them...

    The Small Dolmar/Makita Thread..Max 50cc class

I wouldn't call the PS-4600S a "little one" – this one and her bigger sister PS-5000 are fully grown-up adult saws IMHO. I remember when I did use my first PS-5000 for the first time, previously having had a couple of 115i in the 50 cc class, I was overwhelmed by the sheer power she offered and...

I can't see how cutting off the inner hook(s) would help fitting the circlip into the piston but if you make sure to only cut off the hook(s) and leave the circlip's perimeter it shouldn't hurt.

Same here, but only with the piston for the 116si/PS-6000i. All other Meteor pistons I have used so far were a perect fit. The circplip's thickness should match the width and depth of the piston's grove so best use the ones supplied with the piston

Actually I even don't what the dukes pistons are, never heard of them...:confundio1: Meteor pistons are italian made and do have a very solid reputation

Did you do the crank-conversion by yourself? Would be nice to see pics of inside of the crank-compartment I had to do some serious ginding in there when I did the same crank replacement a few years back:

No OEM pistons any more, I've ordered a Meteor piston, one of the four remaining Meteor pistons types available for DOLMAR engines

I'm stuck, have to wait for the piston to arrive. All done what could be done: Got a new project too: Plain vanilla 116 with heated handles. Has a chafed piston but looks good otherwise. Bought her to fill another gap in my collection

Sorry to dissent: 962900065 is the sealing-ring within the combination ball bearing 960123159 clutch side. It has been NLA for a couple of years now. You'll have to buy the entire bearing instead. 213141-5 is the starter-side sealing-ring and still available both OEM or aftermarket because...

The chafings on the piston turned out to be a seizure on the intake side: Hard to believe she was still running with this rupture but she was and must have done so for quite some time since the impact craters are all covered with carbon. Frotunately and IMHO absolutely surprising: No...

A fourtnite ago I found a DOLMAR 116si nearby at a 20 minutes driving distance. The saw was offered extremely cheap for 25 €, was dirty like never having received any maintenance during the last 30 years but she was a runner. Brake band was broken to pieces as expected, piston looks chafed...

Thank you! Here are full-body impressions of this frankensteined saw: I think she's a very good deal with her 125 € price tag, starting and running fine even if the exact year of manfacturing can't be deterimened. I guess she, that is her main parts aka engine block, are '94 or soon...

Neither do I recommend it or not but I can add information given to me by a Dolmar support staff member off records shortly after the recall was issued way back in 2018: The additional weight added to the brake flag adds risk for breaking the flag's hinge clutch-side. The Dolmar engineers had...

Maybe the last samples built towards production's end have the closed transfers. Fact is, the cylinders with open transfer disappeared from parts lists about end of 1999 but model 111 was in production until 2008. However it is as well possible for a 111 to have received a replacement cylinder...

@Wilhelm: OK, you seem to have a point there. And looking at parts lists, the brace apparently was abandoned in 2/2015 by the factory as well. I always thought the brace had been a replacment for the screw and connecting link (038174023) on top of the can of the earlier models, but that's not...

Hm, once the SLR tube is removed, that shouldn't be neccessary IMHO since the brace is there for good reasons.
