McCulloch Super Pro 125c build thread

Someone else. I didn’t have a new piston or pin or rod. We just freshened it up with new bearings as it would bind when you rotated the crank. Made 196# before we began. Also put new rings in it but disaster struck before we planned to measured the compression as rebuilt. With a big carb, I...

McCulloch Super Pro 125c build thread

If your piston is usable I would stick with it. Unless you stumble upon a better one, changing it out as you now know will be $$$. I would avoid a kart piston with the bearings in it instead of in the rod. Recently had a .050” over 101B rebuilt. Only made a few cuts with it. Left it with...

PAST 3rd Annual MMWS GTG October 5-7th 2018

Once the saws started I got caught up in watching and didn't take any pictures. I must say that it was really great to be around a bunch of passionate and competitive folks that were helpful to each other and in good humor. Races were fun to watch. Though the saws were hot, the chains are...

Early morning run dialed in at a tad over 2000 rpm. All pointers in the right direction with just 160 more miles to go. Just a smattering of the many many fine saws. Ron

    MCCULLOCH The official McCulloch thread

Thanks, Mark. Not what I wanted to hear but what I suspected. Different subject - Brian and I are trying to figure out a way to get to the GTG next Saturday. Unfortunately, other than Brian I don’t have anything interesting to bring. The short lived kart saw is in a box. My experimental...

    MCCULLOCH The official McCulloch thread

Any one know if MAC made any 1.5” stroke saws (Super 44A, Super 250, etc.) with a connecting rod that had the wrist pin bearing in it - like a SP125C? Ron

    How to square file

Should have asked this first - is square filed outside in or inside out? I have been filing outside in; opposite from how I round filing. Thanks, Ron

    How to square file

That is what should happen but I noticed that the more teeth I filed the more likely the tooth would ride up on the jig thus lowering the filing point. Don't know if this is due to operator error, worn file or something else. Soon or later I will get it figured out. Repeat-ability is why I...

    How to square file

Thanks. From the pictures, it looks like Oregon’s corners are far less than a 45 whereas the Stihl looks to be real close to a 45. I have found no way to go corner to corner on a Stihl chain with a three corner file short of filing a big notch in the tie strap. Ron

    How to square file

Some more pictures. Notice the round corners. Low Back to center. Round and not sharp Round and not sharp I need to put some felt or rubber on the bottom of my base as it slides around now that I sanded and lacquered it. Advice appreciated. Ron
