The inlet cover plate 578 09 56-01 is worth getting for those. Makes vac testing a lot easier.
I would say, just replace the seal and get 2-3 o-rings. It’s easy and cheap enough to keep a couple in stock. Such a bad design in my view.
Looks like the corner is too low and the side plate is leaning back too much. Try lifting the handle and rotating it less. Are you filling with the chain on the bar? It’s much better in a vice.
Where about sin the UK are you? Chainsawbars are the only place I’ve found that sell square chain...
Guy I work with has one on his 462. It’s loud enough to make your ears bleed. No idea if it’s any better than just a normal muff mod though.
I’d be interested to see if it’s any quicker
