Yup. The oldest one (17) is as tall as I am and stout as an ox. The youngest one (14) is at least two inches taller than me and wearing a size 15 shoe. Eats more than any human I've ever seen. Haven't found anything yet that he can't break, either.
Been a while, thought I should check in with y'all and let you know I'm still lurking now and then.
I've upgraded my log splitting capability this year. My boys are now able to actually do some work...
I looked inside them a little more closely this morning. Some have a section of heavy wall plate steel added to the inside wall where the box was mounted to a bracket on the underside of the truck body. I didn't look to see if they all had it, but someone took some time to make sure they could...
Too bad you aren't any closer to me (NW Arkansas). I just scored 7 used under-body or flatbed mount toolboxes like you were considering.
2 - 13" x 16" x 96" - two compartment, locking, steel, white
2- 13" x 16" x 96" - two compartment, locking, steel, black

This stuff beats JB Weld when sealing any type of fuel leak. It is designed to seal petroleum products. I've used it on my Dad's 1973 Dodge 3/4 ton to seal everything from the fuel tank to the washer fluid reservoir. None of the repairs have failed yet. Cheap, too.
I've got some seasoned oak that really needs to get burned this year. Bring a trailer and my boys and I can load you up in short order. I'm in Alpena, Arkansas if you want to see how long the drive would take.
Workshop knows the way...
Welcome aboard. You'll find us (for the most part) to be thankful to the Almighty for all He provides, especially veterans of the US Armed Forces of any branch, war time or peace. Glad you are here. Make yourself at home.
I can identify with the pain thing (probably nowhere near as much as...
Good luck. I had two that I sent in a load of stuff to Workshop quite a while back. As I recall, they had all the drawbacks of a (bad) clamshell design plus limited parts availability. The one I tried to re-assemble had a persistent vacuum leak that I finally just set aside for another day...
Stihl is a good saw, and I love my little MS260. However, as long as I can run my Makita 6401 I cannot, in all good conscience, "like" this post. It may be the ONLY saw Dolmar ever got right, but baby - they got it RIIIGHT!!
Thanks for the feedback, though.
Need some opinions...
My Dad has an MS 180C, the little spring assisted start, tool-less chain tensioner variety that most of us throw rocks at. He loves the little saw and has had it for 6 or 7 years. I don't know how many cords of wood he has cut with it - at least 40. I put new rings in...
Quite correct. I have brazed thin metal with oxy/propane and it is rated for aluminum. Oxy/acetylene = faster and less frustration. That last part he said can't be stressed enough. The heated work area will "pull" the rod into it and form a strong bond.
That sounds like the lower rinse arm seal is worn / broken. It's a $3 part and so easy that almost anyone can do the repair with a little youtube help.
Also, you may find that in many cases Bosch, Whirlpool, Kenmore, etcetera are all the same machine inside with different exteriors.
That is a consumer grade Poulan. Pretty much the same as their 4018 model, or a Wildthing, or several other names that they've been marketed under. Not generally worth much to anyone on here, but I had one for my main woodcutter for 2 years until I learned a little about saws. I always have a...
Evenly heated house? Where's the fun in that? We've had a wood stove in the dining room for years. Bedrooms are nice and cool to sleep in and everyone wants to get near the stove on cold mornings. That way we all have a little family time early in the morning and count our blessings - family...
