Not a vent. It's plugged port used to connect oil passage to bar pad. You can plug it but don't go too deep or you will block to passage to the bar pad.

The brass elbows from junk carbs fit good on some I ran across. I've seen a lot of cracked white plastic fitting not many black ones.

Even with no fuel filter, 10 tanks? If not from fuel or your can only thing else is someone is getting alot of dirt in there when the cap is removed or the tank vent filter not there.

If your keeping the 394, use that for bars over 24".

Pickup would leak all the time running or not.

What oil line?

How about the basics before jumping to the moon. Air and fuel filters clean? Spark screen? Screen in carb? Don't know how much use it has on it and if it sat long with fuel in it.
