    OPE Forum Hurricane relief fund

I work for the City of Orlando FD.... tree work on the side ..... started as a hobby to get more time on rope. I teach tech rescue classes and it was a good way to stay up on rope use. Really liked it and have taken on jobs as a second income. I still do it just because I enjoy it.... getting...

I so worked 28 hours straight today brought the storm... we had a four hour block where we were not answering calls due to wind speed and power lines coming down. Orange County had one rescue trapped for two hours by falling power lines, we ran an extrication on a rescue that wrecked with a...

    Hurricane irma

Just got back from deployment to Texas for Mathew. Returned to Orlando just in time to start boarding up the house. Scheduled to be back on duty Sunday/Monday. It's getting busy out, but most people by me are still being civil. Just getting my saws ready, generator ready and working on the...

    Dolmar 7900 issue

I have purchased a couple bar mount spacers from fordf150.... great customer service. I actually talked to him last week about a echo 355t or the new dolmar top handle, tons of great info. We also spent considerable time talking about FD vent saws and carbide chains. I probably hit him up...

I actually use the gauge more than I thought. The FD down here pays really good, but the trade off is the *s-wordbags we have to deal with on daily bases

The 40 acre where bought in 1971 by my grandfather with no road access, cheapest way to do it Small update ... decided to go ahead and just do a bunch of preventitive maintenance instead of hunting for the one broken thing. Put in new impulse line, fuel line, fuel filter and rebuilt carb...

I do get a good amount of use out of my saws. I run a personnally owned (3 man) arborist company, I'm a class C faller for the FD, and I have 40 acres of hardwood select timber in western NC that I cut furniture grade timber off of. I do all the above because it's fun for me, I'm trying to get...

I drained the fuel tank yesterday at home. It find have pressure behind the fuel cap Wednesday while it was sitting. The 461 also had pressure behind it, but it didn't seem to effect the saw.

I did leave the 7900 sitting out for two hours after the initial surging problem and it still did the same thing. If it was vapor lock would it go away after sitting for a while?

    Dolmar 7900 issue

The 7900 is 7-8 years old, I've re-ringed it once. I have no idea on the hours, it's one of my front line saws, but I rotate it with (2) 461 & WWS 390xpw. I ordered a new fuel line, filter, tank vent and impulse line. Hopefully that covers the bases. The 461 has never skipped a beat and its...

Will do. Thanks for the ideas. It was a first for me, I think that's why it's so frustrating.

I had a job today to get a dead live oak down. 42" diameter at the base, 50' tall. Working in Central Florida, 96 degrees today and full sun. Started the cut with a 7900 28" square ground. Got the tree on the ground and started bucking rounds, cut 5 rounds then had to noodle a section at the...

    Firemans vent saw

Our VentMaster 575xp have the standard husky high top filter, one outer spike, 404 sprocket , solid nose/solid bar 20" and full wrap handle. Some of the saws still have the aluminum case/muffler guard. If it still has the VentMaster carbide chain, that is worth 275.00 by itself.

    Carbide Chains

The tempest raptor chain has worked the best for us. I cut a roof last week on a commercial building that was rolled roofing over4" cellulose insulation and 1/2 decking. That a step cut for a 14" carbide demo blade, twice as much time. We used the ventmaster and it allowed us to make one...
