That blue goo at the cylinder gasket isn’t stock. Somebody has been in there.
Cylinder looks good except for that hole in the plug threads. I would get a new piston (meteor or OEM). Fuel lines, filter, carb kit. Check the crank bearings extremely carefully. New seals won’t hurt.

There are multiple threads on AS about the 268 piston in a 372. Unfortunately that place has gone to the dogs.
I’ve done both slab and windowed. The slab feels stronger but neither holds a candle to a machined and ported 372 with the full circle slug.
@Nutball did it several years ago. I think he was running 3/8lp. It’s a great indicator of these saw’s capabilities. My experience is that bar lengths like that are not practical for a top handle saw. A rear handle version could be pretty cool. It’s still a lot to ask from a 5lb bundle of...

I pay zero attention to 4stroking on these. They just sound LOUD. I tune the L and T for best idle and throttle response, then go straight to the log. Start my cut, then turn the H while cutting until I hit the best performance. Done.

Chime in Fellas. Otherwise it will just be David and I splitting wood with axes and talking square file angles.
Alright. I’m tossing out May 11-12, because it works for me. The following 18-19 could be doable. Let’s nail this down. If I don’t put it on the calendar soon I won’t be able to skip work.
