Tooo much time to be in front of this damm computer! Purchased ANOTHER welder. Now I'll be able to weld thin stainless for new maple pans AND weld aluminum to re-fabricate my old basstracker boat. Not to mention a chainsaw case or 2?
This one will work, buy it or I will just to have for ????

Try pressure testing the carb for leaks also. If its the original tilly HK with separate "sandwich" style metering plate that can warp especially if its the plastic version. I gave up on rebuilding this carb and replace them with a walbro from later 450/525 or 455/535 models. HDA-6 or HDA-52.
Made 2 of these "trees". One for the showroom at the store and one for the garage at home. And the only tool you need for the build is you favorite little chainsaw! It holds a dozen saws and only takes up a 4'x 4' floor space.
Sounds like maybe the intake boot. Make sure the rubber spacers are in place above and below the carb. If one is missing the top could be flexing the carb too much ??
Tiltons TOTAL brand AM parts catalog from 2008-2009 used HERR part numbers for sprockets and recoil springs. They put a T (for total) in front of sprocket numbers and H in front of spring numbers. Tiltons later catalog from 2012 used a different number system.
That's why I read these threads. Every once in a while I laugh out loud at the monitor. Wife says......what's so funny? This time I just said.............nevermind....
Iv'e got a 670 box o parts to put together one of these days, so this is something I need to know too.
This is the same chasis as the 266. Service manual says flush with inside on PTO side.
