So what did you do today?

Started clearing a building site for a barn I'm wanting to build yesterday. Had all the fun stuff in action, including fire...lol. Here's a few pics.... @usmcbuckwild this was Sam & the saw you built him...! Definitely got some work outta him yesterday. The oak is gonna be...

    Pole Pruner recommendations

The coupon I'm referring to, is a perk for being in their, "neighbors club". They kick those out I wanna say every quarter, or a couple times/year.

I bought the Dewalt. It was $199 at Tractor Supply. I literally just got a 10% off coupon from them so, I got $20 bucks off of that. I'll mess with it this weekend, & report back. I had gone by a couple Husky/Stihl dealers, & all anyone had in stock was, the HT56 for $350. Only one of...

That's the direction I'm leaning. It will only get occasional use. Couple times a year. I appreciate all the input I'm getting on this thread. I wouldn't buy a saw from Lowes/Home Depot, but this is a situation where I don't have a justifiable need, nor do I wish to spend the cash, for a...

I'm a Dewalt guy, & am very set up with their line of cordless tools.

    Pole Pruner recommendations

Thinking about finally getting one, looking for recommendations. I'm starting to rethink the ladder/saw combo, & the, put a buddy in the bucket of the front end loader program too. Both have served me well over the years with no accidents. Definitely don't want to change that. I live on...

Motivation to work on your own ....

For me a good chunk of the motivation is, access. I live in the boonies. The closest shop that works on husky saws, is a solid 45 minutes one way.

You know, I never thought much of em until I bought this one. I had never owned one, & my prejudice against em was unwarranted. I just was always a full size truck guy. I bought this thing 8 yrs ago (spring 2013). Wow. I'll probably never be without one now. Cut & hauled home, two loads of...

Well, parts showed up today. Got er put back together, & she was oiling properly..! Figured I'd go do some real world testing, rather than that whole, controlled environment stuff..lol. Went out to the woods & cut a small load. While I did have another saw with me (just in case), the only...

Absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. There have been many times in my career, I wished I was that way, or had chosen that path. There are pros, & cons to both approaches.

Motivation to work on your own ....

I can definitely relate. I've been self employed the majority of my life (50 now). Have been in business for 28 yrs, Dec this year makes 29. I couldn't punch a clock today, regardless of what the pay offered. I turned down a reasonable offer just a few years ago for a job that honestly, was...

:D:D:D Well this lil Husky runs circles around the 290's it routinely cuts with. Just sayin.... :pesas: The two guys I cut with the most, both run MS 290's. One of em will grab my 353 if he has the option, over his 290. It's been a great saw. Lots of power, & still lightweight.

Found some that looked like the same size, & length. However, the thread pattern was different. These bolts have a unique coarse thread to em. I couldn't really tell until I put some readers on, but it was obvious once I did. Unfortunately, best I could do was order online, & play the...

Motivation to work on your own ....

Same. For my day job, I'm a Roofing Contractor. Have been for 30 yrs. I also do carpentry, & have built plenty of buildings. When it comes to my own stuff, I do it all, except large concrete slabs, & masonry. Everything else, I've got covered. Like the scenario in the original post...

I've been a member here for awhile. I'm just as addicted to chainsaws as some of y'all are. I've had the pleasure of having a couple Mastermind saws. Sometimes I just hover in the background, as this site can be unfriendly to one's wallet..lol. I've never really been into working on saws...

What do you have your OWB set at ?

Cool. Was just curious. I don't believe any of those factors make a difference in my wood consumption. The blower on my stove doesn't kick on when the temperature in my house changes. It only kicks on, when the water temperature in my system drops below 165. My hot water might affect it a...

What do you have your OWB set at ?

Sure glad it doesn't get that cold here..! I wanna say in the last 10yrs I've seen -1F once. It's common to see teens or single digits a few nights a year, but generally doesn't get that cold where I'm at all that much. I know this, when it does dip into the single digits, my stove gets...
