I used to do most of my saws myself but now I prefer to buy new right from the builder. Between being swamped with jobs and having a new born I just don't have the time to do the work myself. I'm actually in the market to pick up one or two new ported saws. Most of mine have quite a bit of...
Clutch side crank bearing went. Saw didn't completely blow up, it still ran just very rough with a lot of vibration. I caught it just in time so end result was minimal damage. Piston has some scoring but cylinder is clean. The bearing did not actually fall apart, kinda weird and hard to explain...
So I recently purchased a 7900, new, and go figure it blew up. I know there is someone on this site who builds dolmars so I'm looking to get in touch with them and see if I could send out my saw, get it repaired and ported/modded. Get in touch with me and I'll provide all the info you need.
Thanks
You're right about working with family and logging together! My father and I butt heads, sometimes more often than not. But I'd have to agree that logging together has definitely brought us closer together. I don't think I could do it with any one else!
Nope, it's surely a 379.. The 379 was available with a long nose or a short nose. This is a 379 short nose. There are actually quite a few differences between the 378 and 379 short nose. Even though they look similar to most they are not the same. One example is the 378 has a fiberglass hood...
So I'm sure that I'm going to get various replies about all different types of chain. Everyone has their own opinions on which saw chain is the best, and those opinions are exactly what I want to hear. Lately I've been going through too many chains, it's the Oregon full chisel lgx chain, 3/8 .50...
The tracks are all rubber bushed with a hexagon shaped pin holding the pads together. The tracks run on 5 sets of dual "road wheels" on each side. The road wheels are attached to the machine by independent torsion bar sprung "road arms" allowing for individual movement of each wheel while...
Well now you have! It helps keep the front end down pulling steep grades with a hitch. It also helps to keep more track on the ground too. It works excellent, I think it was a great idea having it drive from the front..
Good evening everyone! I'm always looking for blown up 385's or 372's. Or all the plastic that fits em!
Message me if you have anything..
Thanks

I've had a few 7900's, have heard from quite a few people the stock 7910 doesn't run like a stock 7900. It's not the coil that bothers me, my 7900 had a limiting coil too. I also understand that the 7910 has some fancy plugged up muffler as well.. I know I could change the coil and the muffler...
@Canadian farm boy I hear ya on that. Before I got into the woods full time I was a Master Tech for Harley Davidson. So I too know how expensive quality tools are and how costly replacing them can be. When I worked in the shop I would clean and inventory all my tools every night. One thing that...
@Canadian farm boy that's one clean saw for a 93. You obviously take pride in keeping your saws in tip top shape!
@Brian Simonseth Same goes for you, pretty clean saws.
We try and keep up on or saws too, after all that's how we make our money! Almost every night we blow them off with the...
We always have at least 2 saws per person. You have to! Anything can happen and it would really suck to go to the job and an hour later your only saw blows up!
That 385 in my picture was my dads, he bought it new and had it ported. He cut with it every day for many years. I inherited it when...
Thanks for the reply @Kozak Logging I always like to hear how other guys operate their business, especially when it is another father and son company! Sounds like you have a good thing going!
Stay safe out there.
