    How to square file

If you source any I'd be curious to know where. Seems like it wasn't that long ago that they were listed at Madsens etc.

    How to square file

While I never cared for goofy files, I had a look this morning. The usual suspects no longer list them, and I struck out looking at many sources. Are they your preference?

Simington / Silvey Square Chain Grinders Tips/Tricks/Secrets

I've had an RS2 close to 30 years. Bet I've not even sharpened 1/2 dozen chains on it. Never could get them ground to my satisfaction compared to square filing. (Except one time which I remember well-can picture exactly what trees on what woodlot-perfect) Reading this thread got me to dust it...

Milling chain zero to ten degrees

Think it's 84dl on a 24" 72 on a 20 Oregon No stretching as I like to use chains that I've already used for felling and bucking. Only time I've used canola oil was milling clapboards off a 6" White Pine cant Ms460 w 16" b&c

Milling chain zero to ten degrees

I usually run square filed chain at 0-5 top plate for milling. Probably close to 80 side plate. Not sure on depth gauges but pretty low compared to a ripping chain. I happen to run semi skip for logging, so that's what I mill with. 3/8 .50 on an 066. Hardwood or pine. Fast and smooth finish in...

    How to square file

Lol the flare didn't bother me. Hard to tell from that picture, but that stump was totally free from the ground. The tree had been pushed over, I topped it at 21 feet then the excavator stood it back up. I didn't cut it any lower because there was too much gravel . I did put on an 18 though vs...

    How to square file

Cleaning up trees pushed over by excavator. I like square filed chain for dirty wood. I reduce angles and lower depth gauges. Cut two tanks and a quick touch up for clean wood.

The forestry and logging pictures thread

Rhode Island. Nice job. Some real nice Red Oak . Landowner knows log market and doesn't want to take a chance on losing more to gypsy moth.

    How to square file

Not the best picture, but I just learned how to post them-just gotta learn how to take them. Slight beak filed on purpose. Stays sharp, fast, but still smooth.

    Huskyboy meets the ms462c

@huskyboy Do you have to do anything with the tops. Also curious if you are chopping for a skidder or forwarder.

    STIHL 044 chainsaw problems

Oh I meant an air filter Andy. I've had similar problems where I thought I had a clean air filter, but swapping in a new one solved it. Guess you'd have a spare if that didn't solve it.

    STIHL 044 chainsaw problems

Can you easily get a new filter locally? Hard to get a filter with many hrs on it as good as new.
