One gain is if you need to retain base thickness. Sometimes you take too much and the base will crack. Also. You could make the saw accept a more standard jug. Maybe an aftermarket to try things before you move to a more expensive jug.

if you are putting this much into it. I would look for a magnesium bottom. most of the parts will swap except the top cover and starter cover screws.

What are the carb jet settings. if they are remotely close to stock settings it would be less likely to be an air leak. what if you turned the L out 1/4 turn?
