    Bought a Cooks AC-36 today

We may have found some property today. Need to see my banker, when I get home and see what I can figure out until our income increases in April next year. Hopefully, I'll be making some practice cuts with it this weekend at my cousins. He's got a project he wants to mill some lumber for...

    Bought a Cooks AC-36 today

Thanks, I've been looking for several months. It turned up 20 miles down the road from my in-laws. Hasn't had much use. But has been in the weather. That will change soon.

    Bought a Cooks AC-36 today

Yes, Sir. My wife and I just retired this past year. We are presently looking for 50+ acres in SE Alabama with mature timber on it. We are planning on harvesting the timber and building a 2-3000 sq ft log home and a 40X60 shop. This mill will allow me to cut and mill all the lumber, logs...

    Bought a Cooks AC-36 today

I shook hands with the owner of a Cooks AC-36 Bandsaw Mill this afternoon. Told him I would be back on Monday after I moved some funds around at my Bank that morning. I tried to leave a deposit, but he wouldn't take it. He didn't know how old it is, but just guessing I'd say 10+ years old...

What do you think of this mill?

It will cut a log 32" by 21' long, however I learned Friday that the clearance between the roller guides is only 24". I was told that usually by the time you square a 32" log, it will pass through the 24" rollers. Yes it's kind of a long video, but explains a lot of the features that make it a...

What do you think of this mill?

I went by Cooks Saw on Friday and spent a few hours. Unfortunately, they don't have any hydraulic saws available to demo right now. They said they wouldn't have one until the first week of Dec. Mean while, I found out that someone my In-Laws know has a Cooks AC-36, the big brother of the HD...

What do you think of this mill?

My wife and I just retired this year. Looking to buy 75-100 acres in Alabama and build a 40X60 shop. Then live in part of it while we build a 2-3000sq ft log home. I've been looking for a mill for a couple of months and there was a WM LT50 about 20 miles away. Cut was very, very wavy so I...

    Working on a 570

There is a high and low adjustment needle on the carb, but no black box on the top, that I saw anyway. Shiny chrome cap.

PAST Has there ever been a GTG in Fl?

Title says it all. I'm new to CS's so just asking where the guys hang out with the fancy chainsaws in this state?

    Working on a 570

I'm new to CS's but I don't think all of that would apply to a plain jane 570 would it? Maybe the XP models? Yes, I plan on a pressure/vac test when I put the cylinder back on. It was definetly lean to damage the piston and transfer the little bit of Al. No Iphone, dang phones are smarter than...

Already subbed, and bump for the folks that don't know about you yet. Picked up a great 262XP yesterday. Still working on the 570. Did you raise the bottom of the cylinder on the exhaust by .030" or the intake on that series saw? thanks, Ken

    Working on a 570

I bought a 570 a couple of weeks ago at the pawn shop. I asked if I could start it up, the guy said sure, so I took it outside and it started right up. I could tell the compression was a little low from pulling on the starter cord. They were asking $230, so I tried to talk them down, told...

Repairing Stripped Machine thread in plastic hole

Try sticking a few pieces of fine copper wire down in the hole then inserting the bolt. I saw that on a video on you-tube the other day on a stripped hole in Al. I'm going to try it on a stripped hole in my carb on my 350 husky.

So what did you do today?

Yes, I just played with porting the little 350, I had and loved it. It was a $20-30 kit, no big deal if I messed it up. I'm just learning. Now I'm addicted bought 3 saws in the last 2 months.

So what did you do today?

You talking new or in the rental dept for sale? I know 5-6 years ago I bought a used sod cutter for 1/10 the cost of a new one. Ran it till I sold my business this year. All I ever replaced was a broken belt. Great buy, and sold it for 3X what I paid for it.:)
